Determined.To Enjoy My Life.

Not being able to lift or move my right arm, last night, after not having any problems yesterday, was a huge shock.

It was a surprise which I didn’t need right now, when I could feel again, how important my arm exercises are for me.

Tried to see if I could somehow still be able to do exercises, once my arms can’t move, that was my immediate thought.

I wondered if Richie could rig up a pulley, over the bed that would make it possible for my arm muscles to get stretched.

After a short time I had to admit that there was nothing I would be able to do, not without a motor or Richie’s help.

Feeling my arm lying woodenly and unmoving next to me was unnerving, it scared me a lot; I had been hoping to keep my arms active.

My right arm not being to move at all, was horrible, I had hoped that my arms would still be functioning next year.

Last night’s nasty shock, rattled me, for awhile my optimism was gone, and I did not want to go on, with this unequal struggle

That lasted for only a few minutes before I bounced back, determined not to waste any time fighting MS which I can not win.

Instead I intend to enjoy my life with my darling Richie and savour every precious moment that I can.

Yesterday Turned Out To Be A Good.Day.

Yesterday turned out to be a very good day indeed, certainly when compared with the days before it was so much better.

Feel so good that despite feeling worse than the day before I had a good appointment with Mathilde, my excellent physiotherapist.

I was so happy that I even managed to do the arm exercises using the weights around my wrists again.

After the session I could actually feel that my arm muscles were pumped up because of my hard work with the ½ kilo weights.

What made the day better was the fact that I no longer felt nauseous and was looking forward to dinner, having eaten bread & marmite during the day.

Last night I really enjoyed eating the lovely dinner Richie had made for us, despite him feeling so weak from this horrible influenza.

It was so good to be able to taste the food and to enjoy it all again and to be able to eat it all was also splendid.

Richie baked two apples stuffed with mincemeat, which is made with dried fruit, and mixed peel.

The baked apples were delicious a great way to finish off an extremely enjoyable meal, I liked every tasty mouthful.

We Shall See.

Got Richie to video me doing my morning arm exercises, they may not look like much but these exercises have given me back some serious upper arm muscles.

Just before I started doing the arm exercises I had suddenly noticed that my arms had become scarily thin, and muscle seemed to be non existent.

Since I have been doing them every morning for 30 minutes, I do 12 exercises and repeat each exercise 12 times, the difference is noticeable.

It is amazing how effective the exercises are, which is excellent, as a small daily input gives me such a good return.

Today Richie got me out of bed and to the shower in a smooth and quick operation which went well.

Once in the shower he trimmed my hair, something that I find takes a long time but once it is done, it feels great and looks good too.

Spike and Marleen always do their best to be at their cutest and most playful just as Richie is busy with me, even now in his box Spike will do his best to get our attention.

Which he gets from all of us, he has been in good form and even better since his appointment with the orthopaedic vet yesterday.

Great to hear from Richie how pleased the vet was with Spike’s progress, he is about 5 days ahead of where the vet thought he would be.

Richie was given the advice to walk him as slow as possible to encourage him to walk slowly and calmly on the leg that has been operated on.

Spike being him has devised his own routine, which is he hangs back and does not keep up with Richie and then catches him up by charging on his three legs.

What can you do with a dog called Spike apart from marvel at his antics and his adaptations and his amazing spirit, he is a fine dog.

Still no sunshine today, it is cloudy, dull and cold with outbreaks of drizzly rain and no sign of the weather becoming nicer before the end of the afternoon.

Who knows it could become pleasant weather tomorrow we shall see.
