Precious moments.

After I had written Friday’s post I found a piece of artwork by Roberto Matta and tried to publish on my blog sadly everything froze which was frustrating.

Deciding there was no need to panic I closed up my laptop thinking that I would be able to put the blog post on my blog on Saturday afternoon.

As usual everything went differently on Saturday so I did not spend any time using my laptop that day nor on the Sunday, nevertheless I managed to relax and enjoy the weekend.

Slowly I am beginning to understand that there's not much I can do when things either go wrong or don't go according to plan, its better that I remain relaxed.

However it is not always easy for me to keep calm and be patient, that is not really me as I am very impatient person, despite that I have learnt how to deal with it.

The weekend despite not going according to how I wanted was extremely enjoyable, Richie and I laughed a lot and dogs were very happy too.

today I'm just enjoying the fact that I've been able to access my laptop, check my e-mails and write my blog, hopefully also my Dutch blog.

Richie took the dogs for a long run to the Amsterdam Woods, where I'm sure they are having a fine time, as I am being able to write this.

The other thing that I have learnt very clearly is that it is important to enjoy everything possible to make the most of every precious moment.

A slow day.

Roberto Matta.

It has been a very relaxed day today that was because we were taking it easy; mind you we took it maybe a bit too easy.

Because we waited until after the personal alarm box and the batteries had been renewed, the appointment was for anytime between 1300 and 1600.

Of course the engineer came here at 1545, how typical and only after he had gone did Richie take me into the bathroom for a lovely shower.

When I was showered, dressed and perfumed and back in bed Richie got me a small snack and drink so that I could take my baclofen tablets.
After that we both listened to today's episode of The Archers, a long-running radio program on BBC radio 4 which we listen to every night.
When it was over, Richie checked that the dinner was cooking all right in the oven and then he left with the dogs for a quick run round the Rembrandt Park.
I'm going to keep this short, and look for a painting by Roberto Matta and put this on my blog and enjoy dinner with Richie when he is back from the Park.

Last Friday I got my new lenses, Richie had taken my spectacles to the optician’s on the Thursday afternoon.

Friday afternoon Richie went to fetch my glasses with the new lenses, which had been put in by Andre, the optician.

Friday afternoon it was good getting the glasses back, but it became instantly very obvious my eyes needed to get used to the bifocal lenses over a few days
.
Saturday and Sunday, I took it extremely easy and managed to read and write with some difficulty.

Today, I was hoping that my eyes would have got used to the new lenses and there would be no more problems.

Sadly my eyes are still not 100% used to these lenses; I shall wait and see what it is like tomorrow.

If I have any doubts tomorrow I shall discuss it with Richie and then get in touch with Andre in the day.

Should these lenses still not work for me Andre will have to come back and measure my eyes again.

I am hoping that tomorrow my eyes will have become accustomed to the lenses and I will not have anymore problems reading my e-mails or comments on my blog.

A New Start And A New Name.

Cyril.

Yesterday was a very exhausting day we were both pretty relieved, me especially once the catheter problems had been resolved.

Just after I posted yesterdays blog post and was settling down to a relaxed evening when the phone rang.

It was Rebecca, a woman who I had been in touch with just after Spike died who wanted to find a new home for her Jack Russell.

When I first got in touch with Rebecca, we were just too late as the dog had been placed taken on a trial placement.

We were both disappointed as he looked a nice little dog, so I sent Rebecca a mail asking her to let me know if it did not work out.

I did have an e- mail on Monday telling me the trial placement was not working and wondering whether we would still be interested in her dog.

Immediately mailed that we were and waited to hear more, on Tuesday evening Rebecca called to say she wanted to meet us.

She said she would call us later that evening but she did not, I mailed her the next day to find out what was happening, and if it was happening.

She mailed me that it was and she would be in touch, did not hear anything all day
then at 19.00 Rebecca called to arrange a meeting.

She suggested we meet at the station at 20.15 and if the dogs were ok with each other we could take him home.

Richie went down to the station to meet Rebecca and Jacky, the dogs got on ok so he came home at 21.00 with our new dog.

He was very excited to be here and started playing with the dog toys like he had never seen any before, it was a sweet sight

Several toys did get destroyed in the process, we decided after seeing him playing happily to rename him Cyril, a new start and a new name.
