All's Well That Ends Well.

 Roberto Matta.
We were very worried about Cyril last night because he could not walk on his right paw and it seemed to be giving him a lot of problems.

Richie called the vets as soon as he could this morning and they gave an appointment for 1200.

Before he left he got me my laptop so I was all set to look at my e-mail, open my blog and write today's blog post.

Just as I opened my e-mail program the laptop screen became black and shortly after the power went off.

I waited for a minute and tried to restart the laptop sadly without success, I tried it several times, then several more times before deciding to stop.

What amazed me was how calm I was about this happening, I think I realised that was little point in getting all worked up and upset when it seemed I could not remedy the situation.

The idea that my laptop was dead is not a nice thought however I decided I would just have to get on and really make an effort to learn how to use the Seetech computer.

I think learning how to use Seetech is not going to be difficult as I thought it would be, last night I decided that I was no longer scared but saw it as a challenge.

It is good that I thought that last night because it made it easier for me when I thought my laptop died, which it hasn't.

As I found out when Richie got back from the vets with Cyril, apparently Richie had forgotten to plug the laptop in to the electricity supply.

That explains everything and now I'm sitting here writing this on my laptop, Richie also reassure me about Cyril.

Apparently he has an infection in one toe which makes walking very painful for the poor little dog; he is now on antibiotics as well as painkillers.

He should get better in a few days so all is well Cyril as well is with my laptop, and all is well with the weather too, it is a beautiful sunny day temperatures of 20° and perhaps higher temperatures mid-afternoon.

It would be great if it got warm enough to use air conditioning which was installed last week on 9th and 10th of October.

Sad News Abut Spike.

Spike.

Richie took Spike to the vet's yesterday, to get his advice.

Now we know that Spike has bone cancer, we wanted to find out what signs we need to look out for that would tell us he was starting to suffer.

When Richie got back, he told me that the vet thought Spike had only about a month left to live.

His advice was that as he was not in pain and obviously still engaged with and enjoying life and as many biscuits as possible, there was no need to do anything as yet.

But that soon as Spike would not eat and was retreating from the world and started to be in obvious pain, we would need him to be put to sleep quickly so he would not suffer unduly.

Horrible news, not a surprise but a horrible confirmation of the fact we won't have our lovely, energetic, playful and gorgeous little Spike for very much longer.

It is amazing how cheerful and playful he still is despite being sick and losing so much weight so quickly just in the last couple of weeks, it will be so hard to say goodbye to Spike.

I love him so much, we both do, and he is an amazingly lovely loving little fellow with a lot of lust for life, still cheerful and happy when he is so very sick.

I am crying as I write this which makes seeing my text very difficult indeed, just can’t believe that this is happening.

Feels so unreal, at first when Richie told me when he got home I heard and accepted the news but after sometime it became a strange totally unreal thought that our little dog would be dead so very soon.

We will miss him so very much; it has been a tremendous privilege and pleasure to have had him living with us since 2002.

When I had to stay in bed 24/7 from August 2008 until the late autumn of 2009 and again for quite alot of this year Spike entertained me and was constantly by my bedside looking out for and keeping me laughing.

We are going to enjoy all the moments we still have with him while we can, sadly not as many as I had hoped we would have with our beautiful Spike.

No Point In Worrying Before The Event

Nice sunny day today especially lovely especially after the horribly dreary dark miserable day yesterday.

Sadly did not go out as Richie had to take Spike and Marleen to the vet for their yearly injections.

We were both tense about the appointment as Richie was going to discuss Spike with           the vet.

His back legs have become increasingly wonk these last two weeks, up to then some days they were and others not.

The vet recognised Spike’s symptoms right away and wants Richie to go back on Monday when he will take a blood sample and send it to the lab.

It could be one of two things which can be treated with medicine, which will not cure the problem but will ease the symptoms.

The treatment will give him three to four good years, which would be excellent for us all especially for Spike.

Felt so worried while Richie and the dogs were at the vets imagining all sorts of things, it was a relief to hear Richie’s report.

Now we have to wait until Monday and the blood test, hope the vet’s theory is correct and it is one of the two treatable things.

Going to try and put it out of my mind until after the weekend, no point in worrying before the event.

Today is Friday and I am going to enjoy this evening and the weekend, live in this moment not the ones to come.

Sunshine Makes All The Difference.

George Seurat.

Richie has taken Marleen and Spike down to the vets, Marleen to have her stitches out; she had a little lump nipped off her neck last week Monday.

Luckily it was not malignant and she did not need too much anaesthetic and was wide awake pretty quick and keen to go home.

Once the stitches are out both dogs will be looked at, Marleen to see if she too has mange and Spike to check that the treatment is working.

Got a call from our vets on Monday wanting to hear more details about why we had to go to the Emergency Clinic at the weekend.

The Emergency Clinic always lets the regular vet know if clients have had to use their weekend service

Hope that Richie and the dogs are back soon, planning to get out of bed and do the leg exercises with the Motomed and then go outside.

Or maybe go out first then come back and do the exercises, today is a lovely balmy warm summer day which I want to enjoy by going out.

Summer is here at last, even if only for a day, it is here and it is gorgeous, well worth the wait.

Hope of course that we will be fortunate to have, this lovely weather for the next three months that would be great.

This morning woke up feeling all the pain as soon as I was, conscious again, tried to be as quiet as possible and not wake Richie or Nur.

Felt not just the pain but all the endless hopelessness of being trapped in my body unable to move.

As soon as Richie heard me cry out he got me some THC and the pain took a back seat once more and I could relax and think of other things.

Getting involved with the world always makes me feel so much better, once I can sit up and take part everything changes again.

Today the weather has given me a huge boost that I really needed after waking up feeling so desperate.

Funny how sunshine makes things feel better, just like a positive perspective really does make life feel better.

Ted and Lewis at their new home with a friend of ours.

Slept very restlessly last night think we both did as we were worried about Spike appointment at the vets.

A much earlier start today as Richie had to get Spike down to the vets for the small operation.

Poor dogs did not understand why they did not get any biscuits after 6pm last night and refused to sit with us like they always do.

And then this morning one gets taken somewhere and the other not and their whole routine gets disrupted poor dogs.

And poor us as we realised again how fond we are of our little mad dog Spikey, it was horribly quiet here today with no wee face popping up my bed wanting me to play with him every five seconds.

No strange noises emanating from his bed as he plays with his very favourite toy, no yodel of pleasure as he gets a biscuit.

I even cried a few times today was missing him so much, Richie is off getting him from the vets, in fact he rang just then to say he had got him and he was safe and well with a little plaster on his nose.

What a relief to know he will be home very soon now and I can make sure he gets his share of biscuits tonight.

Right now there are two parrots on the bird feeder which is great as they have not been here for some months now.

Knew they were still around as could hear them most days and even hear them early in the morning before the curtain is opened.

Well they are back now Spike is wearing one of those see through plastic lampshades to stop him worrying the wee wound.

He seems to be in good form if still a wee bit dopey from the anaesthetic being Spike this means he can still run around and play.

Well that’s the status quo been restored, Marleen is very happy now her playmate Spike is back.

We are happy too.

I have another focus which takes my mind off how painful it has been today and how many spasms I have had.

Funnily enough thc in combination with being distracted by Spike relaxes me so well pain has been pushed away.

Am all set for a pleasant evening with my darling anjd the two doggies.
