Today has been enjoyable Sunday; we have been having a relaxed time which we both needed.

Not long after I woke up Tina jumped up on my ready to play, she is an adorable dog who loves a game.

I'm glad that she likes me, when Richie brought her back from the dog pound I was worried that it would be difficult to have a relationship with her.

Being as handicapped as I am, this has restricted my interaction with the dogs; I hate not being able to play with them like I used to.

Horrible not been able to sit on the floor and play anymore, it is wonderful that despite this Tina and I are friends.

She is very nice little dog who is smart enough to deal with this for her strange situation, I could not go to her, so she has come to me.

Every morning for the last few months she jumps onto my bed for cuddles as well as games both of which I enjoy.

As I have not got the hand functionality nor the strength I can't play like I used to be able to, so I have to improvise, Tina seems to understand and plays gently with me.

Which is wonderful as Tina plays quite roughly with Richie but not with me, with me she is quite careful as if she knows that I am not well.    

It is now 20.37 outside it is a wet night, Richie is out right now with the dogs is in the Rembrandt Park.

Before he went to the Park Richie made our dinner which he put into the oven to cook, it should be ready when he comes home.

When he is back all he has to do is put the delicious food on the plates for us both, which I'm looking forward to immensely.

Tina, Our New Dog.

Today is an exciting day, Richie went off to the local pound to meet our new dog, on Monday evening I spotted her on the website.

I sent an e-mail requesting that they reserve Tina for us, the next day someone from the pound rang and we chatted about Tina.

They said they couldn’t reserve her; however they suggested we visit with our dogs to see if the three dogs hit it off together, Richie was busy until Thursday.

I phoned yesterday t 15.3 to see if Tina was still there, luckily she was so I arranged that Richie would go there this morning with Marleen and Cyril  

It was difficult for me waiting to hear what happened, whether it went alright, did we have a new dog or not.

Richie left at 09.30 and returned at 13.00 with three dogs, so now we have three lovely dogs, Tina is a sweet playful dog, and the three of them are alright together.

Lovely to see them all together,working it out between them, for now it’s already good between them, so that means it can only get better.

Once they go to the park and start playing together they will have even more fun together, which will help them start to bond and become a pack.

I am very happy that we have finally have found our third dog, she seems to be a good addition to our lovely Marleen and Cyril, so now we have a trio of beautiful dogs.

I Am Enjoying The Here And Now Immensely.

Great news, we got a reply last night from someone in Amsterdam who wants to find a new home for Jacky, their lovely 10 month old male Jack Russell.

Wonderful to get such a quick response and to be picked from the 147 responses so quickly, that is very flattering.

Richie also found another two lovely Jack Russell’s at a dog pound in Leiden, both desperate for new caring homes.

In lots of ways I think we would rather take the dogs from the pound than the dog here in Amsterdam.

I think the dogs in the pound probably need to get a new home more urgently than the little Jacky.

Hope the dogs in Leiden get new homes very soon; they certainly deserve a good home with people, who will look after them well,

We have an appointment to meet Jacky this Sunday and if Marleen and Jacky click then we have a lovely new dog.

If they do not click, then we will be in touch with the dog pound and go to Leiden to see if one of the JR’s there is Marleen’s new chum.

Very dark outside by late afternoon, after what was a surprisingly bright today for a grey overcast day, had a good appointment with Frans from the company that supplied my hoist.

I will be getting a new set of straps in a softer material which is better for both of us, as it won’t be as painful for me or as difficult for Richie to get round me for a safe transfer.

So a good day for us both, Marleen also had a good day when Richie took her for a walk this afternoon.

Despite my disability I am feeling very optimistic about life which feels good, my body has been fucked up by my MS, but my mind and my spirit are fine.

I am enjoying the here and now immensely.

Our Lovely Spike.

More snow in the night and extremely cold, so cold that the window had to be shut quickly in he early mornng, as we were frozen.

A lot more snow today, there was a snowstorm for 30 minutes which left another thick layer outside.

This happened just when Richie had taken the clogs down to the clog toilet; Marleen had great fun in the snow.

Richie is just off out with the dogs now so they can have abit of fun in the snow today; it is as dark already asif it were early morning not late afternoon.

Spike has been wandering around looking sweetly at me, can’t believe my little darling will be dead soon.

Weird concept death, he will be dead but all the memories will always be here with us, with Richie and me.

And with all the people who met and became friends with Spike, over the 8 years since we brought him home from the dog pound.

He had no socialisation as he was dumped in a deep ditch as a young pup, too young to even leave his mum and the nest.

He was taken home by 2 lots of people who thought him too much and took him back, their loss was our gain.

And our pleasure, eight beautiful years of Spike, who has been a good loyal friend/companion and a great pack member and playmate for Marleen.
