Beautiful Day.

=

Russian Art.

It is a beautiful day today, going to enjoy it especially as the weather forecast is for rain for the rest of the week.

In an hours time I will be getting a visit from an optician to test my eyes for a new pair of glasses.

Quite exciting that I have got this organised, brilliant that an optician is prepared to come round.

What is even better is the fact it is a shop not far from where we used to live, nice to be giving the money to an independent shop.

http://www.vroomennobbe.nl/ on the Elandsgracht, Amsterdam.

Did try Pearle and Spec Savers could not help me, well Pearle said no light away whereas Spec Savers hoped they could help.

When they found they could not help the spokesperson looked on the internet for a few links that maybe able to provide the service.

Quite amazing she was so helpful, not something that ordinarily happens here, unless you specifically ask you won’t get an answer.

For example you are at a bus station and ask a driver if his bus goes to x and if he says no then you have to ask him which bus will get you there.

He or she won’t of their own accord say ‘no this bus does not go there but bus 8 will get you there’.

This is an approach you almost never get here, do not know whether it is an Amsterdam thing or countrywide.

Maybe an Amsterdam thing as they are known for being rude people.

Just had the optician here, what a charming man, he did it all in 45 minutes, he really did it well, it was no problem for him that I am in bed.

My new glasses are very light, there is no coloured rim so the view is better without edges, the arms can be bent anyway you want.

I am very pleased with them; think the new glasses will be better for me and not as heavy and bulky as my present ones.

All in all a good appointment, I shall be getting the new glasses quite quickly probably in 10 days.

I am going to post this and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the sunshine and the pleasant feel of the outside air coming in through the open window.

Herrad! I've noticed the islanders here do that same thing! So resistant to help any further than a yes or a no - and you're lucky to even get that. It's very frustrating. I'm so glad you like your new glasses, I remember when mine were finally ready, I was so excited!
:) Enjoy the sunshine! It's raining here too for the next few days!

Hi Anne,
Thanks for coming by and leaving a comment.
It is brilliant getting the optician round.

Hi Rain,
I guess Amsterdam is a sort of island, very different from the rest of the country.

Thanks both of you for coming by, good to see your comments.
I am still enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.
Have a good day.
Love,
Herrad

Hi, Herrad,
That's really great that you can get fitted for glasses in your home. I know what you mean about service people not being helpful -- I thought it was just here in the eastern US, but am surprised it's in Amsterdam. Enjoy the nice weather -- ours took off and left us with chilly rain.
Peace,
Muff

Hi Herrad, How nice that you can get an eye doctor to see you at your home. It reminds me that I need to make an appointment to get new glasses myself. I am way overdue! Think I will call for an appointment that is before the end of the month!

I just read about Spike ...
I hope your little sweetheart is feeling better now.
And I hope he doesn't have to be in that cage the whole day ...
Love & hugs,

Hi! Herrad
It's hit and miss here with bus drivers or any other transit workers. Some are very helpful others not.

Show your new specs when you get them.
Bye
Carole
