Good Support.

Gareth's Photos From Wales.

Had two good appointments Monday afternoon with my physiotherapist Mathilde first and then with my occupational therapist Johanneke, from the RCA.

They overlapped by 15 minutes and this turned out to be a good thing as Mathilde could tell Johanneke her views on how she thought I was sitting.

Between them they moved the extra bit of support Ruud from Summit had placed with Velcro in approximately the correct place.

This was better than it had been, they were not totally convinced that I was sitting as good as I could be sitting, so they slightly repositioned it which felt even better.

Then Michelle, my occupational therapist consultant from ARCA phoned and spoke to us both, after talking to her Johanneke added a thin piece of the foam on top of the piece Ruud had placed and this proved to be the missing link.

I was now sitting better with no more wobbling and sagging to the left, we were all very pleased with the result.

Finally I am sitting well and feel more confident about sitting in the wheelchair and think that this adaptation has made all the difference.

My next appointment is today with Michelle and Harm from Welzorg, a company that sells mobility aids.

Harm is here to adjust the arm rests which do not give me any support at the moment, so it will be brilliant as right now it is very tiring having no support.

While she is here Michelle will make the appointment with Ruud from Summit, which is excellent, looking forward to it being all done and dusted and being able to use the wheelchair.

This could be the final stages of this project coming together, be brilliant then there will not be any need for any more seemingly endless appointments and I can roll around safely.

It's been a long process, Herrad, but I'm glad you can finally see light at the end of the tunnel. Enjoy your forays into the outside world.
Your persistence inspires me.

Hi Shauna,
It has been a long process, seems it will be a few weeks before it is done.
Fingers crossed.

Hi Amrita,
Hope it all goes well and quickly.
Think it will be weeks.

Hi Rain,
All the appointments drive me mad but we have to get on with it and hope it all works out well.

Thanks for coming by, the chair should be collected next week Wednesday and back Friday same week.
Arm rests need an estimate to be ok'd and then I lose the w/chair
for a w eek while they adjust the arm rest.

I am doing m best to keep calm

Have a good afternoon/evening
Love,
Herrad

Hi Herrad - Nothing like proper support in all its forms. Bit by bit you are getting what you need. I love your tenacity.

I spent the weekend with friends in Dallas, and am about to hit the road. Next weekend in the neighborhood block party. Can't wait!
