A Dramatic Start To The Day Today.
Lovely day yesterday with just a small blip after Anja was gone, when Richie discovered that my catheter had come out.
He put in back in, after cleaning it and getting me some THC, he had it back in quickly and he showered and dressed me.
It was the full works toe nails too and after Richie dried me he put almond oil liberally on my legs and feet.
The oil is good and keeps my skin well moisturised and it smells nice, so a win-win situation.
Last night had to take some antibiotics because Richie thinks I have a bladder infection, which does happen regularly with catheters.
Slept very well and woke up making a soft moaning noise, only for Richie to come over right away.
He had a look at my catheter bag and told me the bag had nothing in it, which was not ok, so he wanted to rinse it through.
It was too blocked for him to rinse it through; he always does this once a week, just to avoid blockages.
When he was getting things organised to change the catheter, he discovered that the catheter had got a leak and the bed was quite damp.
That explains why I was not stressed because I needed to pee, no wonder I was so calm, although I was beginning to feel cold.
Lucky for me last night I took a sleeping pill as the first pill of a course of antibiotics can often keep me awake.
So I never felt any discomfort, had in fact slept soundly, waking up and moaning as all the pain became instantly noticeable again.
Richie was very good removing the old catheter and putting the new one in, after that he hoisted me out of bed and on to the shower chair and in to the shower.
While taking my thermals leggings off he discovered the catheter had fallen out again and replaced it.
Felt a lot better after Richie put the catheter back in again, glad he can do it himself, and then we do not have to ring the out of hour’s doctor’s service.
Well after that dramatic start to the day I now feel reasonably relaxed and intend to enjoy this day,

Hi Herrad,
Good thing Richie can do that task for sure. After so many tries at getting that to stay put I bet you both needed a break! I hope it's a nice saturday evening for you both now, and wonder what Richie is cooking up for dinner!

Oh gosh, I'm glad you don't have to wait for the nurse anymore! How awful, but luckily that sleeping pill worked.
Hi Stephany,
It is brilliant Richie is so good.
Afterwards the rest of the day was good.
Richie made creamed spinach and mash potatoes and fried fish.
Hi Rain,
Good that Richie can relace a catheter much better than waiting for the team to arrive.
Thanks both of you for coming by lovely to see your comments.
Have a good evening and weekend.
Love
Herrad
I have never had a catheter come out! That would freak me out, for sure. Doesn't the balloon prevent that from happening? Inquiring minds want to know!
Glad that all's well that ends well, and that Richie can take all of this in stride.
Hi Webster,
Can't realy answer how it comes out but it just does.
And I never feel a thing.
Richie has asssited the doctor on numerous occasions, so felt confident he could do it ok.
better than waiting for up to two hours for the out of hours team to get to you.
Have a good Sunday.
Love,
Herrad
Am glad you got through it OK. Richie is a pro. Plus better for risk of infection to stick with your own germs. Can you ask nurse about different catheter or amount in the balloon? Or here the urologist might offer to place a suprapubic catheter as another option. Best wishes, Love, Mary
Hi Mary,
Thanks for your visit and comment, think that the fluid is the recpomended amount.
I will check things out with our wonderful doctor.
Hope you are having a good Sunday.
Love,
Herrad
