Turn Back Time.

Joseph Minton.

For someone who hates summer ending and autumn starting I do like the month of December.

Wish it did not rush by, would like the December days to pass by slowly, shame that is not possible.

Time passes the same every day and every year, mind you isn’t it just our perception and time does nothing.

I had a look online for definitions of time and found this on Wikipedia:
''Among prominent philosophers, there are two distinct viewpoints on time.

One view is that time is part of the fundamental structure of the universe, a dimension in which events occur in sequence

Sir Isaac Newton subscribed to this realist view, and hence it is sometimes referred to as Newtonian time.

Time travel, in this view, becomes a possibility as other "times" persist like frames of a film strip, spread out across the time line.

The opposing view is that time does not refer to any kind of "container" that events and objects "move through", nor to any entity that "flows", but that it is instead part of a fundamental intellectual structure (together with space and number) within which humans sequence and compare events.

This second view, in the tradition of Gottfried Leibniz[4] and Immanuel Kant, holds that time is neither an event nor a thing, and thus is not itself measurable nor can it be travelled.

Ray Cummings, an early writer of science fiction, wrote in 1922, "Time… is what keeps everything from happening at once",

Wikipedia also says:
''Time keeping is so critical to the functioning of modern societies that it is coordinated at an international level.''

It is interesting to see that at some point humans decided that time had to be measured and decided how and when to do this.

Seems to me that our perceptions are very important in deciding many things, time and our lives are all part of our perception.

Since I have become so disabled due to the progression of my Primary Progressive MS I have become very interested in perception.

Realise more and more that how I perceive the world around me has a huge effect on my life.

If I am positive then everything is positive, but if I am negative then everything is negative and I  can not see good in anything.

Time is something else that is affected b y my perception of time flying by and time creeping by.

Now that I am older and have experienced many things, time seems to have speeded up but I know that is because many events are known to me now.

So my knowledge is more extensive and therefore time now seems to go by much faster than when I was 5 years old.

My perceptions are important for how I am, how I feel about life the universe and everything.

I choose to have a positive perception and life feels better for it.

Measuring time...we think we NEED that. We think(at times) we need all the wrong things.
I've been thinking of Spike...

Wow, Herrad! How fascinating that you chose this as your blog topic today! The lovely old gentleman whose wife I attend to during the day and I were just talking today about this very topic.

He said that he read something from some author or another that surmised that the reason time seems to go so slowly when we are younger is because, for example, one year when we are ten is only one tenth of our total experience here on this earth. However, when we are fifty, one year is only one fiftieth of our total "time" experience. Therefore, the smaller the portion each year comprises, the faster it seems to go by.

Great topic! It was interesting to read the other theories you posted on this subject as well.

Hope you are enjoying life as much as you can these days. December is, indeed, my favorite month of the year also. I wish it could last all year long sometimes.

Love ya!

Nice well thought out post! I believe there is no beginning and end of time. We do live in that reality however.Einstein said time is relative like time with a pretty girl seems so short and when you grab a hot dish, a few seconds seem forever. Did I get that right? Like when we were young and carefree who would think we would see time seem to speed up. Have a great week. Love, Mary

Hi Mary,
You are right about measuring time and needing many other things we so not really need.
Thanks for thinking of Spike.

Hi Kirsten,
Glad you enjoyed the time post, I had been thinking about time for awhile now.
