Slept very well again last night, and last night like every night Spike resisted and in fact blankly refused to go.

Last night I told him several times, Richie called him too and finally he was persuaded that it really was a good idea and he scampered off.

It is good to see that the wee dog has his sense of dignity and pride, it is also funny to see but I think also very instructive.

Find living with dogs to be a very interesting, and informative to co exist with another species

Good to be reminded that other species do things differently, also good to have to learn to communicate without language.

I feel that our three dogs have had a positive effect on me, realise that with our first dog Daisy, I often made the mistake of trying to understand her in human terms and that does not work at all.

Spike and Marleen have really made me see that dogs are dogs and not little humans and our relationship has been less stressful.

They have been so very good since I have been in a wheelchair and then all the upset of me being in bed suddenly for so long.

Poor dogs did not understand what was going on; they had been quite stressed by our moving apartments.

And also about what was happening to me, so the last year and a half must have been weird for them.

Once we established a routine the dogs relaxed again and worked out how they could relate to me in bed.

They have both been very sweet sitting right by my bed, and spending a large part of the day playing around my bed.

And both demanding to come up on the bed, it is very sweet to see them worried about me and needing to be put up on the bed so they can assure themselves that I am ok.

The dogs have been brilliant keeping me amused and cheerful since I have had to be in bed so long.

Miss taking them out for walks but am optimistic that I will be able to accompany them on walks again soon.

In the meantime the dogs carry on entertaining me indoors and they do an excellent job.

I am looking forward now to a visit from a good friend Anja, she should be here around 2 pm this afternoon.

Sure it will be a fine visit which will brighten up this cold grey January day.

I hope you have a nice visit! I know what you mean, that when you understand that dogs are dogs, you all get along better! I learned that at an early age, having grown up with pets, and I'm glad I did! It's grey, windy and cold here (surprise surprise! lol)...I'm home today waiting on the cable guy! Still tinkering with all of the fun sounds on the piano before I start the real lessons! :)

Hi Rain,
The visit from Anja was very good, just the thing to brighten this gloomy looking day.
You are right about getting along better with dogs when you treat them like dogs.
Hope you had great fun playing with your keyboard.

Dear Herrad,
hope you are fine. Please excuse for being able to visit mostly in the middle of the night.
A loud WauWau from Stefan, who is now of course asleep, but still looks at the pictures during the day, and the wish of a nice weekend for all of you.

Love the doggies.

I have also learnt a lot from my dogs and they are my greatest friends.

They are very sensitive to what their masters are going through

I love dogs so much. They sense pain and try to fix it, they calm us and make us exercise by petting, interacting. They can diagnose ailments so listen to them too.The best thing is Unconditional love. Our cats keep us going.Captain acts like a dog, he cries, howls and sits up, does high five. Such great friends.Have a great weekend, warmer in Vermont, January thaw.Love, Mary
